Summertime Promotional Tips and Strategies – Part 3

In our final installment of this series, five more summer marketing tips are revealed to help you take advantage of the buying spree this season.

While there are many ideas you can use to promote summer sales, you may have questions on how to effectively initiate and commence your summer promotion strategy. Here in Part 3 we bring you five more summer marketing tips to get you started on an action plan.

  • Send out Newsletters

Through your contact gathering efforts, you should have a sizeable list of current customers and interested potential consumers on your email or mailing list. Use your monthly or quarterly newsletter to announce your summer marketing plans. Explain how your customers can take advantage of sales with a clear call to action in the newsletter, and be sure to provide additional summer tips and ideas that your customers can use or benefit from.

  • Form a Joint Venture

Summer is a great time to join forces with another small business owner and form a joint venture. A joint venture can be a simple combined summer marketing strategy between you and another business to sell more products and services.

For instance, combine your photography services with a popular local tourist spot. You can take and sell photos of tourists in front of a landmark and offer to share profits with the store or property owner.

However, joint ventures don’t have to be limited to marketing. Think of other creative ways you can combine products, resources, and ideas to financially benefit both you and the other business owner.

  • Announce on Social Media

If you have been steadfast in your social media marketing efforts, you should have a good following to whom you can make your summer marketing announcements. Use Twitter to make short announcements on product sales. Provide links to your website or a landing page announcing an event. Facebook is a great place to announce to all your fans about sales and events as well. Encourage your fans and followers to spread the news.

  • Use Custom Signs

Custom signs are a great way to make summer marketing and sales announcements. Talk to a local printer about creating a vinyl sign that encourages tourists, passers-by, and just about anyone to stop in your store. Even short signs like “Cool Inside” or “Ice Cold Water” can get hot shoppers inside even for a few minutes, and they might even buy something.

  • Get Free Promotion from Good Deeds

Your summer promotion strategy might be doing something for charity or non-profit. Offer to donate summer-related goods or services to a non-profit organization, like Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Be sure to announce your efforts through a press release and try to stimulate your local press to cover your contribution or fund-raising event.

  • Partake in “Trunk Sales” at Fairs and Festivals

Spring and summer are the seasons of outdoor fairs and festivals. Consider setting up a booth at one of the busier fairs and festivals, marketing it as a “trunk sale” where customers can buy your products at an enticing discount. Not only will you generate sales, but you will also market your business to a wide audience base that may translate into loyal customers in the future.

Your summer promotion strategy needs to get in motion now in order for you to get full advantage of advertising efforts. Start planning your summer marketing events, specials, and sales, and form an action plan to advertise them. Have a great summer sales season!
