In this article, I’ll share the best ways to craft your SEO Title Tag, including several examples that you can use to model your own title tag.

This element of your page structure is often written up quickly without deeper thought.

That’s a mistake. Here’s the right way to approach it.

The Importance of a Well-Crafted Title Tag

Title tags are the first thing people see when your page shows up on Google’s Search Engine Results Page (SERP). It’s the main text that appears in blue and serves as a clickable link to your site. But that’s not all—this tag also appears at the top of your web browser when someone is viewing your page.

The most important part: Google uses this succinct line of text to comprehend what your page is about. That’s why it’s essential to include your target keyword in the title tag.

Include your target keyword in the title tag

Doing so helps Google’s algorithm know that your page is relevant for the keyword. This also increases clicks from people who are actively searching for what you offer because they see their search term right there in your page title.

The Ideal SEO Title Tag: Keyword and Location

I’ll share actual examples that you can model for your own site. Say you’re a managed IT service provider who serves the Washington, D.C. area. Let’s do a makeover on the title tags that I see frequently.

1. Before: “MyCompany Services” After: “Cybersecurity Services for Washington DC Enterprises – MyCompany”
2. Before: “IT Solutions by MyCompany” After: “Managed IT Solutions in Washington DC | MyCompany”
3. Before: “MyCompany” After: “MyCompany: Network Security Services in Washington DC”
4. Before: “About MyCompany” After: “Data Recovery Solutions Washington DC metro | MyCompany”

You can see how these new titles are more descriptive because they include the exact keyword that would match the page’s content.

Most importantly, even for B2B SaaS SEO for geographically centered services, the SEO title tag is different for each page. Using the same title for every page is a very common mistake because Google can’t easily tell what each page is about. By using the keyword, you add a relevant descriptor for its algorithm.

The other critical part of this tag is that if you target local customers, be sure to include your city name – or neighboring areas that you serve. You could have a different city for each page, which gives you broader local SEO coverage.
