Negative Thoughts In Business: Listening to Your Inner Voice?

At some point in the course of your life, you may have asked yourself whether you could do better for yourself as an entrepreneur. It’s true that starting a business means you need money, but as a small business owner, you also need to tune in to that special something that you can’t quite put your finger on.

You may have the funds, the right people, and the management expertise required to start and run a successful small business. You can follow all the right steps, and be sure that you will make all the right decisions. Yet, you may find that something is missing – somewhere.

When we look around us, we may find that some people have it pretty easy. And we may wonder why we can’t have easy as well. After all, life is short and there is definitely more to life than just the daily grind. With the passage of time, negative thoughts like these can sap our energy – and it is then that everything begins to look bleak.

If you have been troubled by thoughts like these, take heart. Life can change for the better in strange ways – with a little help from you, of course. The trick lies in keeping away negative thoughts and learning to listen to your Inner Voice.

Keeping Negative Thoughts at Bay

What makes the difference here is the understanding the difference between “I can do it” and “I can’t”. Negative thoughts can send you on a downward spiral roller coaster ride. They could turn into a self-fulfilling prophecy as your own negative thoughts turn into self-defeating actions. Think positive. As soon as you get a negative thought, think of the opposite.

By doing this, you drive away the negative thoughts and change your line of thinking for the better. Avoid complaining if you can. Before you complain about something, ask yourself whether, by doing so, you are actually avoiding responsibility by blaming someone else. Look for other options.

Listening To Your Inner Voice

Your body continuously receives stimuli through the five senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. Your mind then reacts to these stimuli in different ways. This affects your mood and thoughts then translate into action. Sometimes your rational mind makes the wrong decisions based on these stimuli, while your Inner Voice may have been prompting you to do otherwise.

The Inner Voice has been variously described as Intuition, Gut Feeling, the Subconscious, or the Sixth Sense. This is where the wisdom gleaned out of your life’s aspirations and experiences is secreted away. It is a part of our survival instinct.

Whenever you face any situation, it is your Inner Voice that first recognizes it as friendly or hostile. It sends you a signal even before your rational mind can think it through and analyze the situation. Your body is the first to react involuntarily to these signals. Your reaction shows up in form of tightening body muscles, sweating and cold palms and feet, or an uneasy feeling in your abdomen (your gut feeling).

If you shut your eyes for a few moments and silently concentrate on your thoughts, you will feel a kind of stillness in which you can think more clearly. Try thinking about your problems with your eyes closed while lying in bed trying to get some sleep. It will likely result in a viable solution the next morning.

So, the next time you are faced with a dilemma that cannot be resolved with the help of those around you, check out your Inner Voice. And if your Inner Voice repeatedly comes back to you, pay more attention to it.
