3 Tips for Great Presentations
Many small business owners are great when it comes to their business knowledge. But when it comes to making a presentation to close the sale, their efforts fall flat.
Here are three tips to help you make a great presentation and wow your clients – each and every time.
Whether it means ‘Keep It Sweet and Simple’ or ‘Keep it Simple, Stupid’, the old adage definitely holds true when it comes to presentations.
If your presentation is complicated and convoluted, chances are you won’t get your ideas across successfully. The result will be an audience that is confused – and confusion usually leads to inaction.
Make sure that the message of your presentation is focused and tight, and doesn’t wander from the main idea.
Know Your Stuff
If you want to have any type of credibility with a potential customer, you need to be very knowledgeable about your subject matter.
Looking at notes too frequently, having long pauses in your speech and asking for guidance from others, sends the message that you do not know what you are doing. And if you don’t, how can you possibly help a client.
That’s why you need to practice!
Practice, Practice, Practice
Practice means just that – practicing the entire presentation.
This doesn’t mean simply going over bits and pieces, but going through the whole presentation as if you were actually making it.
During your practice sessions, make sure you have the same equipment on hand that you intend to use during the actual presentation. Doing so will also help you avoid potential equipment snafus that could prove to be very embarrassing.
Making a great presentation isn’t rocket science – but it does take good preparation.
