How to Get a Business License in Oklahoma:
- If you plan to hire at least one employee, contact Internal Revenue Service to get an Employer ID Number (EIN), and to request your w-4, SS-4, Circular E and Publication 334 forms.
- Register your business entity with the appropriate state agencies:
- Visit the Secretary of State Business Filing Department to check name availability and register your business name.
- Download the Oklahoma Business Registration Packet (PDF) from the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
- Visit the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission if you plan to have employees.
- Determine if you need additional statewide business licenses and permits from the Business Licensing System.
- Contact your local governments to find out if you need additional local licenses.
